a case of blogger's block and a bad knee

Yes, I'm still alive. I haven't posted in awhile ... I guess I've had a blogger's case of writer's block. I just haven't felt like there's been much to write about. (Not that there really ever has been! :) And I haven't been taking any photos to share.
My last 2 weeks have been spent nursing my poor leg. After the race 2 weeks ago, I didn't run until the next Saturday. But when I did, I had to stop running after a few blocks ... I think I reinjured my leg ... bummer! After the advice of friend, Alison M.(who is a PT), I haven't been trying to run or doing my cycling class ... and I've taken up swimming again. I like swimming, but it's boring compared to running and spinning. (I need some music!) I'm very anxious to get out on a run again! It's funny ... I was in the best running shape that I ever have been in ... but now I will have to build it all back up again once I can get out there!

I don't have any photos to share from the last two weeks, but here's a photo of my family, including my mom and my brother, Scott (taken at our family reunion this past summer).

I miss you too! I'm sorry to hear about your leg. Give it time to heal, so you can enjoy running again. I'm not very patient either, so I know it's hard. Love to you and see you tomorrow?

Hi Laura,

I'm sorry you're hurt. I know what it's like and hope you heal up quick. I never got to my marathon, but trained too aggressively. When I jumped from a couple of 14 mile runs to a 17 mile run, my right foot complained through those last three miles. But I very foolishly stuck with the goal and ran 17.2 miles, 2/3 of a marathon. I injured myself so severely that I couldn't run. I learned to run on the fronts of my feet and to quit running for two or more weeks at a time, as three miles two times in a week was too much. It took five years to heal my foot. Injuries suck! Be gentle, heal yourself, and donate your shoes when they start to feel flat.

Hey Laura, haven't read your bloggs in a long time so there was much to catch up on. As far as your knee, you need to really listen to your body. I've been on the injured list for years now and it's definately not fun. I miss running and try to get a light run in every now and then, but I know I have to take it really easy. I've been off of milk now for about six weeks and am starting to see some improvement. Not that I'm recommending that. Sounds like you are counting your blessings so I won't tell you to keep things in perspective. Me time is important, but there are other ways to find it that don't involve handicapping yourself.
